Activity in the construction sector rebounded against expectations in January.
PMI data shows that construction activity picked up having been hit hard by the wintery weather the previous month. Construction has been under pressure due to non-weather related factors, so the surprise expansion will lift hopes of economic expansion in the first quarter, following the contraction seen in the previous 3 month period
